How He Asked: Joel & Mackenzie's Proposal Story
Welcome to my new blog series: "How He Asked!"
I am so excited to start this blog series! I love love, and what I love even more than love, are proposals. There will never be another feeling in the world like the feeling of saying "yes" when he asks you, "Will you marry me?" That's right- you might be thinking, well, what about when I say 'I do' at the altar? That is a totally different feeling altogether! Granted, it is one of the best feelings in the world, but there is just something special about proposals. Every couple is unique, and with that, every proposal is unique and special in it's own way. Also, proposals usually are surprises where the one person knows the details and what to expect. There's an overwhelming feeling of love, surprise, passion and butterflies happening when he gets down on one knee!
Today we are going to look at Mackenzie and Joel's love story! I knew Joel from college classes, but I didn't know his girlfriend at the time, Mackenzie. Mackenzie didn't attend the school that Joel and I did, but during special times, she would come down to visit him. This was way back in 2017, when I was still learning photography, and really, only took photos for my friends.
Joel had asked me in advance if I could help create his vision, and I can honestly say, I don't think it could have went more perfectly! He wrote little notes for Mackenzie and put them in a separate bottles, and the bottles lead up to the ring in a heart-shaped glass jar! I got there thirty minutes before the love-birds were to show up and laid everything out in the sand.
Mackenzie not knowing who I was made this proposal so easy! I just acted like I was taking photos of the water and the sunset, and she didn't expect me to be taking photos of her and Joel! It was really comical, actually, because when they had picked up the first message in a bottle, Mackenzie thought the whole set up was for someone else! LOL.
She did say "yes"! And today, Joel and Mackenzie are happily married! ♥️
